Lovely food and a very friendly chef, the perfect way to try Takayma's famous hide beef. He has a great record collection which caters to many different tastes, It's little things like that and the attention to detail that made our night so great. He even accommodated a last minute switch from Omakase course to steak course.

A good place to get the good experiences of Hida Beef and variety of Japanese cuisine with fresh vegetable from the mountain. I would recommend to pick the full curse menu "Omakase".More than that the owner/ chef is very nice guy. Worth to try.

Amazing! I went here with my partner last year and it was honestly one of the best experiences in Japan. Our personal chef was very welcoming and made the most amazing food we've had across multiple countries. Not only that but we were able to have amazing sake, music and conversation. I'd highly recommend - this place deserves a Michelin star

Emphasis on taste of food quality. Best beef sukiyaki, freshest mushrooms, and home made strawberry ice cream that you taste more strawberry than sugar and dairy. Wish to come back soon

Make sure Sakana is on your itinerary when you are in Takayama! We thoroughly enjoyed the omakase course. Local ingredients were the backbone of the meal, which was prepared by a true master who is eager to share his craft. Drink pairings are also spot on. Reservations are required and can be made via email and in English, which is approachable for visitors from abroad. A meal here was by far the highlight of our visit - words do not do it justice, so my recommendation is to experience it for yourself. :)
